WHY START A BLOCK CLUB?

By Officer Myra Gracey
8th Police Precinct Community Relations

Overall, our city blocks make up our communities where we should all live in peace and harmony. However as years past and neighborhoods change we often ask ourselves what happened, or, we reminisce about how things used to be. Well, I encourage everyone visiting this site to get involved in your communities by simply starting a block club or being involved with your specific Block Club.

TIPS ON WHY YOU SHOULD START A BLOCK CLUB

If you would like to:

  1. Promote community safety and serve as a personalized Neighborhood Watch Group (Your Brothers Keeper) - acting as the eyes and ears for your community

  2. Work together in your community, to establish some common goals, and improve or maintain your surroundings.

  3. Bring more unity and togetherness within your neighborhood.

  4. Create positive interaction and communication among neighbors

  5. Ensure that your neighborhood is working together to "Weed" out crime and "Seed" in positive community resources for the betterment of all!

If you said yes to any of the above - then you need to initiate a Block Club in your area.
